Here's a rundown of all bandwidth that Brid uses so you can get a better idea of where your bandwidth is going:
Video serving
If you let Brid encode your video files and host them, bandwidth for serving these videos will be counted. This includes all bandwidth that all video renditions make: HD, SD, LD, HLS streams etc. Bandwidth consumption from these files in your overall bandwidth consumption will most likely be highest if you use us as a hosting provider.
Video rendition | Description |
LD | Small in size, 240p, automatically displays on players < 300px in width |
SD | 360p video rendition |
HSD | 480p video rendition |
HD | 720p video rendition, automatically displays on very large players |
Platform usage
As Brid hosts all accompanying assets for the Brid player, bandwidth for platform usage will be calculated. This includes various files that the player needs like player JavaScript, XML/JSON feeds and other various assets. Due to the low size of all of these assets, bandwidth consumption for platform usage is usually very low and makes up a very small amount of your overall bandwidth consumption.
Note: If you use your own video hosting, platform usage will most likely be your highest bandwidth consumption but it still will be on the low side due to the size of these assets.
Images
Brid automatically creates snapshots and thumbnails for your videos and these will be served and counted by our bandwidth counter. Again, due to the small size of these assets, bandwidth consumption from these assets is usually very low and makes up a very small amount of your overall bandwidth consumption.
Live Streaming
Depending on if you use live streaming or not you may have this entry available in your bandwidth stats. This data entry shows how much bandwidth your live streams have spent.
Brid provides a detailed report on all bandwidth used in our usage display area explained here.
