Bandwidth consumption explained

Here's an overview of all the bandwidth that TargetVideo uses, helping you better understand where your bandwidth is going:

Video Serving
If you allow TargetVideo to encode and host your video files, the bandwidth for serving these videos will be counted. This includes all bandwidth consumption from various video renditions such as HD, SD, LD, HLS streams, etc. Bandwidth usage from these files will likely be the highest part of your overall bandwidth consumption if you use us as your hosting provider.

Platform Usage
Since TargetVideo hosts all the accompanying assets for the TargetVideo player, bandwidth will be calculated for platform usage. This includes files such as the player’s JavaScript, XML/JSON feeds, and other related assets. Due to the small size of these files, bandwidth consumption for platform usage is typically very low and represents a small portion of your total bandwidth consumption.
Note: If you host your own videos, platform usage will most likely be the largest contributor to bandwidth usage, but it will still remain relatively low due to the small size of these assets.

Images
TargetVideo automatically generates snapshots and thumbnails for your videos, which will be served and counted toward your bandwidth usage. As these image assets are generally small, the bandwidth consumption from them is typically low and makes up only a small portion of your total usage.

Live Streaming
If you use live streaming, this entry will appear in your bandwidth stats. It shows how much bandwidth your live streams have consumed.

You can track your bandwidth consumption at any time on the main dashboard view as soon as you log in to the TargetVideo CMS. The Analytics section provides detailed statistics.

All data is available in real-time, so you have precise information about your consumption almost instantly.

Always keep your plan limits in mind and plan accordingly.
