Ad frequency

Ad frequency setting controls how often an ad is shown, tracking the number of videos played before another ad is triggered, and it remains unaffected by page refreshes.

This setting determines how often an ad is triggered. When you adjust this setting, the player will request an ad when the video begins and then follow the specified frequency value.

It’s important to note that this value does not reset when the page is refreshed.

Example:

Suppose the ad frequency is set to 3 at the player level. When a user opens a page with the player and starts watching a video, a pre-roll ad is shown. At that point, ad frequency tracking begins. From then on, an ad will be displayed on every third video.

This means the next two videos played in the playlist (as long as the user remains on the page) will not include a pre-roll ad.

If the user refreshes the page after the initial pre-roll ad, the ad frequency logic remains in effect. The refresh will not trigger another pre-roll ad. This behavior continues until the user has watched two videos without ads, after which the next video will display an ad again.

Note:

The Ad Offset setting can be used in conjunction with Ad Frequency to delay the initial ad request by a specified number of video plays.
